Your sacroiliac (SI) joints connect your spine to your pelvis. When inflamed or injured, the Sacroiliac Joints are one of the main causes (15-30%) of lower back pain and other symptoms. The pain is usually limited to your lower back and buttock, accompanied by stiffness, and can radiate into your hip, groin, thigh, knee, and sometimes leg.
SI joint injections are often used for diagnosis but can also treat pain. The clinician injects anaesthetic and corticosteroid medication into your SI joint, often using imaging to guide the injection.
